SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

CONTENT:

Your work must explicitly include or discuss queer kink. If it’s erotic and/or leather, you come to the front of the line. We encourage you to play with gender. Tell us about your spiritual practices, what sings to your soul. Get nasty with it. We want it all.

CATEGORIES:

• We accept poetry, fiction, memoir, and essays. 

• If your fiction is of a longer length, we can discuss serialization. 

• Speculative and traditional forms welcome. 

• We also accept submissions for cover art. 

OUR HARD LIMITS:

We do not accept visual art (except for covers) or anything written or assisted by AI.

FORMAT:

Please submit your work in a .doc or .docx document using Times New Roman, 12-point font. 

The document should have a header including the name under which you’d like to be published, your pronouns, and email address. It should have a footer with page numbers in the center. The title of your work should be at the top of the document. All submissions must be polished and ready to print.

Prose: Your work should be a maximum of 3000 words. If you have a longer work of fiction which you would like us to consider for serialization, please submit only the first 1000 words; we will contact you to read the completed work if we are interested. 

Poetry: Please submit up to three poems at a time and upload them as a single file. 

Cover art: We would like you to create a scene without people in it - fetish objects or scenes posed as though someone is about to walk in or has just walked away. All forms of static visual art are welcome. JPG of 300-600 dpi, CMYK color profile (not RGB). 

In the Jotform, we will ask you to include a brief third-person bio, 100 words maximum. 

WHAT YOU GET:

• We do not charge a submission fee and we are unable to pay contributors.

• We will mail you two free print copies of the issue in which you appear. 

• You will have the right to purchase additional copies at wholesale price (50% off retail). 

• We will also mail you a hilarious and sexy sticker. 

TECHNICALS:

Simultaneous submissions accepted, but please let us know if your work is accepted for publication elsewhere. 

We accept submissions on a rolling basis. 

By submitting your work, you affirm you are the sole author and maintain all rights for your work. You also affirm that AI was not used in the creation of your work. We request that any writing originally published in Orange Hanky Review be appropriately credited in subsequent collections and reprints. All individual rights revert to authors upon publication.

If your work has been published elsewhere, don’t worry - we may still be interested in your work. Please disclose how and where it has been published, and we will accept secondary/reprint rights. 

We reserve the right to nominate works published in Orange Hanky Review for honors such as the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, etc. Orange Hanky Review will inform authors of such nominations via email.
